Profile
Klaus Botta has been designing and developing wristwatches for
over 20 years - originally for clients including Junghans AG,
Bestform and Watch People during which time models such as the
Junghans-Solar-1, the UNO, the Titan-1 series and others were
produced which still enjoy market success today. In the year
2000, Botta-Design itself took over sales of its watch
collection – initially through its own sales agency "HELIX" and
since 2006 directly under the name "Botta-Design".
Botta wristwatches have already received 20 renowned design
awards, both in Germany and abroad. Selected watch models are
exhibited in the Chicago Museum of Architecture and Design and
the 'Museum für angewandte Kunst' (Museum of Applied Art) in
Frankfurt.

The Watches:
Botta Design
watches are created for people with a taste for the exclusive and a
penchant for high quality products.
Watches from
Botta-Design are characterized by a concentration on the bare
essentials. They deliberately reject faddish attributes and formalistic
decoration. The salient design features are functional clarity and a
high degree of technical aesthetic which is also expressed in the choice
of materials and the precision of the workmanship. We believe that
wristwatches should accompany their wearer over many years and must
continue to impress in terms of function and appearance even years down
the line.
Botta
Design watches offer not only formal but also technical durability.
To achieve this important goal, only the very finest materials and
components are used. They believe it is crucial for their designs to be
produced exclusively by specialist companies in Germany which have
decades of experience under their belts.
Quality
Standards
Botta-Design
uses only movements made by the renowned Swiss brands ETA and Ronda. The
cases are manufactured to their own designs by a specialist firm in the
German town of Pforzheim, while assembly takes place in a factory in the
Black Forest. All the watches undergo dual testing before they leave the
factory.

The Single Hand Principle |
|
We
live in a time of increasing complexity – the consequence of
which is growing uncertainty and stress. A reduction in
complexity and a focus on the bare essentials gives rise to a
sense of security and calm. Coupled with the highly functional
orientation of the products stylistic vocabulary, this embodies
the philosophy of Botta-Design, a philosophy which is
particularly noticeable in their one-hand watches.
Things become clearer and easier to comprehend when they are
stripped down to the bare essentials. True to this philosophy,
Klaus Botta designed his first one-hand watch in 1985 – the UNO.
The second watch built in line with this design principle
followed in 2007 – the SOLUS. Both models feature only one hand,
the hour hand – which just like in a conventional watch,
completes one full rotation every 12 hours.

Thanks to the reduced form of time display, one-hand watches
provide an approximate idea of the time at a glance. If a more
accurate reading is needed, the precise scale divisions in
Botta-Design one-hand watches can be used to tell the time to at
least the nearest five minutes. The strength of this display
principle, however, lies without doubt in day-to-day
timekeeping, as it allows the time of day to be checked quickly
and easily. With Botta-Design one-hand watches, you can tell the
time at a glance. |
